1962 Porsche 356 T6 B Race Car
CRC - The name says it all! Nothing can stop CRC! Bought back in 1994 from the USA, this car already had a 911 motor in the car, however it was in need of some serious body work and re-engineering of the 911 motor and gearbox setup that had been transplanted. Over the space of approximately 18 months, this car was restored to resemble a 356 Carrera 2. The motor had been built to 911T specifications, which was the same amount as the Carrera 2. It also had the rear exhaust valance, but had the bumpers removed and extra air vents added in the rear to allow great airflow and better access to the 911 fan-belt.
In January 1996 the car had its first event being the Le'Bordeaux Rally staged in Victoria's north. Stewart and Ingrid Webster won the rally outright! A perfect start to what has been a brilliant car. The car has taken part in 8 Targa Tasmania rallies, as well as over 20 other rallies around Australia, including the Mt Buller Sprint, Indy Car Rally, Dutton Rally, RallyTas, 3 Peaks Rally, Tour De Course Rally, Arthurs Seat Hillclimbs, as well as many Porsche and Alfa Club track days. CRC appears no less than three times in the 10 Years of Targa Tasmania book.
CRC now has a 2.8 litre 911 motor in the back with close to 240bhp. It also has 7 inch wide, 16 inch Fuchs with Dunlop R rated tyres. Along with full roll cage, intercom system, and all the rally bits, this car is widely known among the rally fraternity and a blast to drive!
