Phillip Island Sprint PCV 2007

Having been at Phillip Island just two weeks before for the Phillip Island Historics, my main aim for this sprint was to see just how hard I could push the car without having to fight for track position!

The main thing that I found from the historics was that I was feather the throttle or get off it when I was getting wheel spin. I was more concerned about the tyre wear than anything else! The car felt fine when I was the wheel spinning, so I knew it was more about confidence and driving it harder out of the corner despite the wheel spinning. God I need an LSD!

With the number of cars on the track limited to approx 12, it means that you rarely need to pass anyone, and you can really concentrate on modifying your lines and braking points with little concern about getting in someone else's way! To be honest, Phillip Island is a track that you cannot do enough laps on, it is just brilliant, and so bloody fast!

Given the clear track and confidence about the car from the weeks prior I was able to improve my best time down to a 2.01, which I was stoked about. Marcus who was there also, and had followed me around, improved from his previous best of 2.04, to an incredible 2.00! I was so happy for him.

All up a great day, however now any further improvements on my best times will be very hard to get! Oh well, that is not a bad thing, I am always up for a challenger. A short 5th gear and LSD would definitely make it easier!
