Attwood Special Event PCV 2007
Attwood is the police driving education centre located just near Tullamarine airport. The facility while quite small, is a great venue for motorkhana type events, and PCV was quick to jump on the opportunity to hold an event there.
With my 911 in at Harrison's RRR getting the suspension upgrades (torsion bars and adjusting the shocker settings), I thought I would use CRC. However given that I had never used the 1973 Porsche 911 RS before in competition, I asked my father Stewart if he would mind allowing me to take this $300,000 beast out for a run! He said yes, and I was on my way to Attwood in the RS!
The RS is left hand drive, and while I have driven lots of cars for plenty of road miles, driving competitively in LHD is something that I have not done. The matters are made even worse due to having to position the car within inches of the cones (witches hats) on the courses that have been laid out. Nevertheless, I am always up for a challenge and learn something new!
The RS is a wonderful car. It is a genuine RS which means is one of approx 1500 made in 1972 and 1973 by Porsche as a homologation of the 911 RSR in which there were 56 built. This particular RS was delivered into Amsterdam new, and has globe trotted from Amsterdam to Japan, to New Zealand, and now Australia. All the while it has only traveled only 60,000 kms from new.
