The Convertible D is a very rare car in the Porsche 356 line up. Effectively a flow on model for the Porsche 356 Speedster and the 356 B Roadster, the Convertible D was a 356 Speedster with a higher windscreen, better soft top, and wind up windows, yet still retaining the much desired Speedster body line. Just over 1000 models were ever produced, and many of these were destined for the East Coast of the USA. They were never made in Right Hand Drive.
This particular 1959 Porsche 356 Convertible D was acquired in 2007 by Porsche Classics in Indiana in the USA. This classic porsche is listed on the Convertible D registry and is finished in its original Ruby Red paint. The car had been restored in the USA and upon arrival in Australia the car was checked over and had some minor issues attended to. The Porsche 356 is now in line to be converted to RHD. The car drives beautifully and is exceptionally quick and nimble. A true investment and classic Porsche model.
