The F100 Utility Hot Rod just turned 60 in 2008, and the original F trucks are gaining in popularity both here in Australia and in the USA as a great basis for a hot rod or daily cruiser. Many F100's have been lovingly restored and modified to be made less agricultural, and more drivable on modern roads. The 1955 Utility Hot Rod is unique to all the models around that era as it has vent windows, and is known as a 6 window model.
This particular Hot Rod for sale was acquired with the sole purpose of being the 'tow car' for the historic Porsche's that we race. This classic 1955 F100 Utility Hot Rod had already had a significant and expensive restoration prior to our acquisition, however due to the purpose of the vehicle, the entire suspension setup and components, braking system, differential, and ratios were totally overhauled or altered. This has resulted in the vehicle having sensational driving characteristics. The list of modifications on this car is huge, including: 464 Big Block Chev, EK Holden front end, thematic fan, central locking with immobilizer, SS Commodore front rotors and calipers, full leather interior, Nardi steering wheel, driving lights, air conditioning and heating, B&M shifter, Turbo 300 gearbox, LSD, massive 15 x 15 rear tyres, tow bar, reversing lights, 90 litre drop tank, and a fully customized rear race box that holds 120 litres of fuel with air compressor and fuel pump, isolation switch and water bottle. Simply the car is awesome, and is the life of any race meet with the car being the centre of attention where ever we take it. The best part about this car is that it is all steel, no fibreglass. Cars like this are impossible to find.
